Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies is a biannual, double-anonymous, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to interdisciplinary scholarship on Islam and contemporary social change. The journal examines how Islamic thought, law, ethics, religious authority, and Muslim social and educational practices interact with digital, ecological, political, and cultural transformations in local, regional, and global contexts. Particular attention is given to questions of technology, justice, sustainability, governance, education, and public life.

The journal publishes original research articles and critical scholarly analyses employing theoretical, conceptual, historical, normative, and empirical approaches. By connecting Islamic intellectual traditions with contemporary societal questions, Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies seeks to advance scholarship that is theoretically informed, methodologically rigorous, socially relevant, and engaged with wider academic conversations in Islamic studies and related interdisciplinary fields.

Al'Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies is a journal published by the Center for Research and Community Service (LP2M) State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Jember since April 8, 1998—now State Islamic University Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq of Jember, Indonesia. This journal has been published in the printed version since 1998 based on Decree No.04.94/IV.3.05/ISSN/1998. Then, on May 29, 2019, this journal was registered with e-ISSN: 2684-8368 p-ISSN: 1410-7406 since volume 22 issue 1 (2019) was published online (open access) with a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number by CrossRef.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global knowledge exchange.
