Focus and Scope

Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies publishes original research and critical scholarship on the relationship between Islam and contemporary social change. The journal provides an interdisciplinary forum for examining how Islamic thought, law, ethics, religious authority, and Muslim social practices respond to digital, ecological, political, educational, and cultural transformations in diverse local, regional, and global contexts.

The journal welcomes studies on contemporary Muslim societies, Islamic law and governance, religious authority and public life, Islamic education and religious literacy, digital religion and technology ethics, data governance and privacy, Islamic philosophy and moral thought, social justice, gender and religious participation, and environmental sustainability. It particularly encourages comparative and cross-regional research that connects specific Muslim experiences with broader debates on technology, justice, education, sustainability, governance, and social transformation.

Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies accepts theoretical, conceptual, historical, normative, and empirical studies employing appropriate qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, comparative, or case-study approaches. Priority is given to manuscripts that present a clearly defined research problem, engage critically with relevant scholarship, demonstrate methodological rigour, and offer an original contribution to contemporary Islamic studies and related interdisciplinary fields.
